Manual for using ECOLAN for liquidating contaminations

Добавить сайт в избранное  Сделать сайт стартовой страницей

The following manual is intended for employees of oil & gas producing industry as well as for employees of other industries, including MES of RF liquidating aftereffects of oil spills and contaminations of the environment.
This manual describes common rules and work regulations when using ECOLAN oil sorbent.

1. General provisions

1.1. ECOLAN oil sorbent is an organic brown-colored polydisperse mineral powder with highly developed specific        surface area. ECOLAN also contains special additives which accelerate biodegradation of sorbed oil.
1.2. ECOLAN is intended for liquidating oil pollutions on water surfaces in open water basins, earth storages and soil, as        well as for biodegradating sorbed oil after burying it in special areas.
1.3. ECOLAN oil sorbent is intended for preventing pollution of the environment with oil and products of its refining.

2. ECOLAN oil sorbent specifications

2.1. ECOLAN oil sorbent is a non-toxic product.
2.2. ECOLAN can be used without any amount limitations.
2.3. ECOLAN does not disturb the ecological balance of ecosystems and does not detrimentally impact on biotypes of        miscellaneous trophic level.
2.4. Usage of ECOLAN does not cause gene-level mutagenesis of biosphere objects.
2.5. ECOLAN is a hydrophobic absorbent.
2.6. ECOLAN is harmless to soil, and even in some cases, can be a reclamative and structure-formating for soil.
2.7. ECOLAN oil sorbent physiochemical specifications:

       - contains no more the 10% of moisture
       - bulk weight 220 - 260 grams per liter

       - particle size, %
         d less than 1mm, not more than .................................................................................................................................. 15
         d 1 - 3 mm, not more than ........................................................................................................................................... 70
         d more than 3mm, not more than ................................................................................................................................ 15

       - sorbtion ability per mass sorbent/oil .................................................................................................................. 1 / 3 - 5

3. Range of use

3.1. ECOLAN is used for clearing water surfaces, sludge warehouses and liquidating black oil and oil polluted land areas.
3.2. ECOLAN usage temperature range:

       - for biodegradation of sorbed oil ............................................................................................................ +8 оС and more
       - for collecting floating oil .............................................................................................................................. 0 оand more
       - for liquidating black oil polluted land areas and collecting spilt oil from soil ........................................... +4 оС and more

3.3. ECOLAN oil sorbent is intended to used at mining, oil producing and oil refinery manufactories for preventing pollution        of the environment from oil and oil refinery products as well as at oil-pipelines and freights transportation facilities.

4. Liquidating oil pollutions at open water basins and water surfaces of sludge warehouses

4.1. Estimate the oil amount to be removed from water surface (by visual and calculation methods). Calculate the relevant        amount of oil sorbent based on the oil amount, which will be applied to the water surface.
4.2. Apply the oil sorbent equally to the floating oil and wait from 5 minutes to 1 hour, depending in the oil amount and        sorbtion speed. Apply additional amount of sorbent to areas which haven't been treated equally or in case of large oil        amounts comparing to the calculations.
Sorbent shall be applied manually or by means of standard compressor installations for floating oil equipped in        accordance with the attached scheme. In such case the sorbent will be loaded into the loading funnel and pulverized        from a hose with an air nozzle.
4.3. Removing sorbed oil integrated into a combined structural mass with the oil sorbents is done mechanically or        manually (by shovels, nets and other utilities). The collected mass of sorbed oil has to be buried in the soil for        biodegradation. Thanks to the biostimulating additives the biodegradation is a fast process. Afterwards sorbed oil        can be buried normally.
4.4. Layer of ECOLAN with sorbed oil shall not exceed 20cm, meanwhile the layer of fertile soil piled above shall not be        less than 20cm.
4.5. Schematic diagram of processing the surface of a sludge warehouse with oil sorbent is shown below on the        picture.

5. Liquidating oil pollution from soil

5.1. Estimate the amount of oil in the soil (by calculation and visual methods). The correlation of ECOLAN with oil should        be 1:3 by the mass.
5.2. Oil sorbent is applied to the soil surface and then, depending on oil pollution level into the soil's depth, is processed        by harrowing or disking with subsequent transportation to special areas. Disking is done only in case if the layer of        soil affected by oil increases 5cm.
5.3. Operating depth should be 15 … 2cm.
5.4. Liquidation oil pollution from soil is done by means of mineral spreader devices based on ZIL-131 trucks. Bunker load        should be 2 tons, decreasing area of coverage of the processing soil to 6m, so that oil sorbent will have less        specific weight rather than mineral fertilizers.

6. Storage and transportation to the place of usage

6.1. ECOLAN is stored in PET bags in conditions preventing ingress of atmosphere precipitations and moisture (sheds,        storage warehouses etc) at temperature from -20 to +400 degrees/C, at least 10 meters away from sources of heat        or open fire. Besides that, direct sun rays are also prohibited due to PET's inability to protect from UV rays. It is also        prohibited to store ECOLAN together with flammables and tanks with flammable gases.
6.2. ECOLAN should be transported to the pollution area in the factory packaging by means of any transportation in        accordance with freights transportation rules effective for each transportation type.
6.3. When storing the oil sorbent in MKR, you should not store them in stacks more than three. When storing in bags        provided by the manufacturer, stack height should not exceed 2 meters.

7. Manufacturer's guarantees

7.1. The manufacturer guarantees ECOLAN oil sorbent's quality conformance to technical specifications in case if the        consumer will not violate the transportation and storage terms.
7.2. ECOLAN oil sorbent's useful life period in the manufacturer's packaging within a dry room - unlimited time.
7.3. The oil sorbent can be stored for 2 years from the date of production in a hermetically sealed packaging. Upon        expiration of that period or in case of changing the storage conditions of the sorbent, the oil sorbent has to be        checked for compliance with technical specifications.
